unity/ Hope’s Standard…

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for

brothers to dwell together in unity!  (Ps. 133:1)

One of the keys to Hope is church unity and purity.

By unity of the body, we mean that we are like-minded, unified in both our faith and in our approach to ministry.  While we do not attempt to accommodate everyone’s ideal church model, we are open to discussion and even disagreement on minor issues as long as we do so with love and gentleness.

(John 17:23; Eph. 4:3,13; Col. 3:14)

By purity, we mean that our speech about and to others and our church, will only be edifying - building one another up.  Also, it means there should be a lack of disparaging or ugly words, griping or complaining, in our ministry.  (Col. 3:8; 4:6; Eph. 5:19)

Because we are like-minded and are all pursuing the same goal, we anticipate greater growth in Christ-likeness and a greater ‘shine’ as lights of Christ in our community - both in and out of the church.  (Mt. 5:16)
